Critical Thinking:
I decided to go to bed at 11:56 pm on this last New Year’s Eve. This choice was brought on by an overall feeling of disappointment, maybe a little rage, at the vapid display of the last decade on the New Year’s Eve show. This regrettable decision was the result of critical thinking gone too far. Not everything has to have an underlying meaning, especially when it comes to just spending time with your family.
I believe that this type of overly analytical approach is what could lead many deeper thinking people to the post-modernist philosophy. This philosophy basically denies that there is an observable objective truth in the universe. This is at least my oversimplified summary, as post-modernism is a well thought out school of thought; however, it may just be critical thinking gone too far. I will likely be posting an article touching on this in the near future.
I also discussed the movie The Two Popes which is currently on Netflix. Despite a warning from a catholic apologist on his show, I decided to watch this movie. Although many of the events depicted were fictional, the movie had a good storyline. As a result of watching this movie, I was lead to do some additional research on Argentina’s Dirty War and the role that Pope Francis played in the country at the time.
Why the format change?
You may have also noticed that this is the first episode to contain a written description in the post. There is a reason for that as well that I will get into in a future show, so stay tuned. For now, I will just say that there is a formula behind all this internet stuff and I am trying to figure it out as I go.
